Project Cast-O-Mat Radio99Prozent

The Project Cast-O-Mat (COM) is a tool to improve the communication of members of a society. The tool is easy to use, but also capable to adress a wide audience. The COM rivals traditional mainstream media with a many-to-many approach in contradiction to an one-to-many communication model. Each activist easily can use the COM to cover an event or broadcast talks and discussions.

The tool consist of three parts:

1. Audio recording and streaming tool Cast-O-Mat. It is either a hardware device or a software for smartphones (App). The COM solves connecting of microphones, audio mixing and improvement of scound quality, recording and encoding for streaming, uplink to the internet. The handling should be as easy as a mobile phone.
2. The webportal Cast-O-Mat. The received audiostream is distributed via a content delivery network (CDN). The received audiostream is also automatically archived. It can be easily edited over the web, commented and augmented with other material (pictures, text, etc.) and published as a podcast by the portal member. Selected parts of the audio material can be tagged and will be searchable.
3. Training material. The whole process of creating interesting conversations, recording them, creating a program is explained and supported by training material. The focus will be on technical, formal, and editorial challenges. The goal is to level and improve the skills of the activists in all areas, to achieve the creation of interesting and valuable results. An exchange of know how and experience is possible via the web portal.
